In 2020 the team at Thornton Legal is aiming to raise £500 for Wirral Hospice St Johns along with a quarterly donation to Wirral Food Bank. There will also be ad-hoc donations to other good causes along the way.
We have chosen to support WHSJ as they have cared for the mum’s of two of the team so is an organisation very close to our hearts. It’s an amazing place doing amazing work, and we are proud to help them raise funds in any way we can.
£500 raised for the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre
£250 given to Tam O'Shanter Farm to help them build a safe children's playground
£250 to Wirral Hospice St John's
Since the beginning of Thornton Legal, for every candidate we placed, we bought a Lego figure to celebrate. But as you can imagine, Lego figures were taking over the office!
The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity are fundraising towards their new cancer hospital they are opening in the heart of Liverpool via the ‘The Big Lego Brick Hospital’ challenge.
The challenge is to raise £500,000 for the new real hospital by building the first ‘Lego Brick Hospital’ which will be under three metres long and two metres high with over half a million Lego bricks used.
Once we seen this challenge, we couldn’t say no!
So, instead of purchasing Lego figures for every placement we make, we will be donating the equivalent amount to buying Lego bricks for the ‘The Big Lego Brick Hospital’ and helping The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity reach their goal of £500,000 for the new cancer hospital.
So far this year, we have donated £150!
Get your team involved and be part of transforming cancer care for generations to come. You can buy a brick for as little as £1!
This year we are committed in raising £500 for Wirral Hospice St Johns. We have chosen to support WHSJ as they have cared for the mum’s of two of the team so is an organisation very close to our hearts.
To kick-start the fundraising Joe and Nick took on the Liverpool 10k and 10 mile run on Sunday (March 10th, 2019) in some challenging weather conditions!!
They managed to raise a massive £270 so far for the charity (with TL matching the final amount) Well done guys!

Now our charity/ CSR page is live, I thought I’d give a flavour of some of the fundraising activities we have planned for 2019.
Our fundraising target for £1,000 is to be shared between Wirral Hospice St Johns and The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity. We will also be doing other bit and pieces as the year progresses, including the ‘Golf Longest Day’ challenge for MacMillan.
So far it seems the fundraising for St Johns will mainly come from running related activities. My challenge will be to do all the runs in the BTR running series (14 runs in total), with Nick and Alex joining me at the Liverpool 10-mile run and Liverpool 10k in March, you have plenty of time to get your training done chaps…. I’ve also set myself a personal running target of 1300km in 2019 and I’ll make a donation if I manage it!
For The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity we will be fundraising towards the new cancer hospital via the ‘The Big Lego Brick Hospital’ challenge. Since Thornton Legal started we have bought a Lego figure for each placement made (see our Instagram) just for fun and we now have an excellent collection! When we saw this challenge we couldn’t say no!
In June Nick and Alex will be taking part in ‘Golf Longest Day’ challenge for McMillan which is 4 full rounds of golf over a day…. that sounds like very hard work to me!
If you would like to support us, you can find our Just Giving page here.
The blog will be updated with more events as the year progresses…wish us luck!
On December 7th, we hosted a Children’s Christmas Party in aid of Wirral Women’s and Children Charity. (The charity provides a place of safety for women and children fleeing domestic abuse).
We thought it would be nice to put on a party for local families to enjoy the Christmas festivities, whilst donating clothes and toys to support those who need it. The party was decorated in a Winter Wonderland theme, and we filled it with festive food, a soft play area, a fantastic magician and a visit from Santa himself! (who for the rest of the year is Joe, one of the Directors at Thornton Legal).
Along with generous donations of clothes/toys, money was also raised from a festive raffle and through the cash bar that was well received by the attending adults! The £60 meant the charity could buy all the children ice creams when they visited the pantomime which made our efforts more than worth it.
We are very grateful for the generosity of everyone who attended and contributed. Your donations went a long way in supporting these families at what can be a difficult time of year.
Also, thank you to Bruntwood Liverpool and Professional Liverpool for helping organise.
The 2019 party will be even bigger and better!
